So I May Stand

I have a life to live

But today

I breathe in the musk of my pillow,

The heated sweat of my blanket,

And the salt of the tears on my flesh.

Today I lay in bed

And cease to live-

Not die, no not die

Just cease

For a moment

So I may stand tomorrow.
