An Equation for Survival

Fight and Flight
No longer “or”
But an equation for survival
At its fittest form
Caught between live or die
Do we not already exist between the two?
Fear plus hope should equal the upper hand
Yet how can it when fact plus reality does not always equate to truth?
Fear minus hope creates a poison
And thought minus fear stirs poison into chosen demise
If we fight our physical self may die
And if we pick flight a piece of our mind may lose its way
So which do we choose when the times arise?
Which do we choose?
Do we even choose when the instincts claim us?
Questions plus little answers equal confusion
Equal fear
Equal illusions of lack of safety
Perhaps we are already always in decision
Fight or flight, fight and flight, fight, flight,
The F words become desensitized
Until suddenly we must choose
And the idea becomes a nightmare instead of a way of life
