There is a girl I met-
We were friends
For a bit,
but then our paths
They split
And life went as it did.
Years afterwards her face appeared
My heart did smile
But then it feared
The news I saw upon her skin,
I cried the tears
One cries for kin.
I found her face once more
This time
Within a film
She made online,
And saw the piece of peace she held,
She held it tight; I let mine go without a fight.
I studied her essence
And bathed in her beauty,
Envied her for a moment,
And then realized she truly,
Lived through her eyes without
The demise of self or others.
I cursed the world for its cruelty
For taking her away from a place in need,
But realized that she was happy in her destiny;
She left her essence behind for us,
And what was I doing with my piece of her?
I felt like a disgrace; in need of a change.
So I woke up the next day,
Her face in my mind,
I threw off the covers,
And I devoted my time,
To the day as it is,
Not as I expected it.
