I Plead Guilty

Guilt:

It withers my gratitude,

Wearies my aptitude,

Weakens my smile.

I have no record to show,

No darkness to shed a glow on,

Nor a ticket to prove my misuse.

I have no papers to provide,

No witness to abide by,

Nor a reason for anything but truth.

I am simply guilty.

Guilty, guilty, guilty!

Judge, entrap me in my clarity,

I am self-shackled,

I will walk the plank willingly

For I deserve the fate of the guilty

Because simply I am.
